Macrogol 4000 - A large organic compound that has water-binding properties and cannot be absorbed by the body.

Directions For Use/Usage Recommendation: 

• Always use this medicine exactly as described in the package leaflet or as directed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure.
• Adults and children over 8 years of age: 1 to 2 sachets a day
• The content of each sachet should be dissolved in a glass of water (at least 50ml) just before taking the medicine. The effect of Forlax 10 g occurs within 24-48 hours after administration.
• In children, treatment should not exceed 3 months.
• The daily dose of the drug should be adjusted individually, depending on the clinical symptoms, and may vary from one sachet a day (especially in children) to two sachets a day.

Safety Information/Warnings:

• Cases of allergic reactions involving rash and swelling of the face or throat (angioedema) have been reported in adults after taking products containing macrogol (polyethylene glycol). Isolated severe allergic reactions have been reported causing faintness, collapse or breathing difficulties and feeling generally unwell. 
• If you experience any of these symptoms you should stop taking Idrolax 10g and seek medical help immediately.
  As this medicine can sometimes cause diarrhoea, check with a doctor or pharmacist before taking this medicine if you:
  - have impaired liver or kidney function
  - are taking diuretics (water tablets) or are elderly as you may be at risk
  of low sodium (salt) or potassium levels in the blood
